『Mary Don't You Weep』（メアリー・ドント・ユー・ウィープ）は、19世紀アメリカ南北戦争以前から伝わる黒人霊歌。1960年代のアメリカ公民権運動で盛んに歌われた。

サイモン&ガーファンクル『明日に架ける橋』（Bridge over Troubled Water）の歌詞・曲名に影響を与えたとされる。詳細は後述する。

曲名の「Mary（メアリー）」は、聖母マリアではなく、エルサレム近郊のベタニアに暮らしていた「ベタニアのマリア」を指している。

歌詞の内容は、新約聖書「ヨハネによる福音書」に基づいており、兄ラザロの死で取り乱していたベタニアのマリアをイエスが慰める場面に基づく。

『Mary Don't You Weep』はアーティストによって様々な歌詞で歌われており、サイモン&ガーファンクル『明日に架ける橋』に影響を与えたのは、スワン・シルバートーンズ（The Swan Silvertones）によるゴスペル版の次のような歌詞。

ファラオの軍は海に沈んだ

歌詞で繰り返される「ファラオの軍は海に沈んだのだ（Pharoah's army got drownded）」について簡単に補足。旧約聖書「出エジプト記」より。

神の命令によってヘブライ人をエジプトから脱出させたモーゼ（モーセ）だったが、エジプトの王ファラオは、モーゼらに戦車と騎兵からなる軍勢を差し向けた。

ファラオの軍に海辺まで追い詰められたモーゼ達。もはやこれまでかと絶望しかけたその時、モーセは手にもっていた杖を振り上げ、海の水を二つに割いた。
