歌詞は、曲名にもあるように、１匹のクマさんが景色を見るために山を登っていったという非常にシンプルな内容となっている。繰り返し部分も多いので、子供にも覚えやすく歌いやすい。
メロディは、アメリカやイギリスを中心に誕生日などでよく歌われる『For He's a Jolly Good Fellow』と同じ旋律が用いられている。
